Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has recently been introduced as a treatment option in the United States within the last few years.
It entails a small sample of blood to be taken and filtered through a centrifuge to isolate the natural healing elements and growth factors contained within. The filtered sample containing concentrated amounts of these factors is then reintroduced into the knee. PRP is capable of potentially regenerating cartilage, repairing damaged ligaments and most of all, eliminating knee pain.
