As we get older, general wear and tear can affect our spinal discs. These discs are filled with a jelly-like substance called nucleus pulposus and act as a cushion between our vertebrae. These “cushions” absorb some of the pressure from running, walking and other strenuous activities. Discs lack the ability to repair themselves so if they are damaged, rupture or become brittle overtime this can cause severe back pain, weakness, tingling sensations or a growing numbness.
